Now is the time of the year when termites swarm, mate, and start new colonies. It’s been a slow start to the swarming season due to the weather. Spring one day and winter the next. With all the moisture in the ground, when it finally warms up there will be alot of termites as well as other bugs. Should be an interesting season.

It seems that the cold of winter may soon be coming to a end. The geese are flying North and the bugs are waking up. We here at Gilbert’s are ready for the challenge. The termites will soon swarm and the Carpenter ants will soon come out of hybernation. With all the moisture in the soil it will make for a buggy summer. Each year is different and the weather is the key. Wet years vs. dry years allows for different species of insects to develope. I guess we will have to wait and see whats going to be on the plate this summer.

Just had a current client call in here and told us he accidentally ate a Brown Marmorated Stink Bug. It took him a day and a half to get the taste out of his mouth. Now you know why birds don’t even eat them.

For the end of November the weather continues to be on the warm side of things. This has created some late season activity for us. We have been overly busy with Termite control. We continue to have an overload of mouse issues as well as our share of spider calls. Today, we had an odd one for late November, Camel crickets in a womens mobile home. It should be an interesting close to a great year.

Not sure why, but mice and other rodents seem to be everywhere this fall. We are receiving more calls than normal from both homeowners and businesses. Now is the time to get them under control.  If we can be of any assitance, please give us a call.
